Watering

It is very important that your newly laid turf gets a good watering as soon as possible. Ensuring a good even watering now will really get the re-establishment of your turf off to a great start.

DO NOT water your lawn in the heat of the day, as this will caused damage to the grass. Early mornings or evenings are the best times to carry out this task.

Make sure that the edges of your lawn get a good supply of water, otherwise the edges will dry out and cause shrinkage.

Once your turf is established, water your lawn when the weather is dry. Weeds are generally deeper rooted and can find moisture deeper down in the soil and are then more likely to overtake the growth of the grass. (See our page for controlling weeds in your lawn.)

You should make sure that you give your lawn a really good drink, moving your sprinkler around to cover the area evenly, (still remembering those edges!). But, over-watering can cause a good deal of damage too.
